Heute vor zehn Jahren wurde es offiziell: Am 26. Juni 1997 verkündete der damalige Vizepräsidenten Al Gore, dass “zum Wohle des Amerikanischen Volkes” zukünftig Medline-Recherchen via PubMed und Internet Grateful Med kostenfrei möglich seien (10th Anniversary im Technical Bulletin). Damit fiel für Bibliotheken erstmals die unbedingte Notwendigkeit weg, noch weiter selber kostenpflichtige Medline-Versionen anzubieten:

MeSH Category V Terms: Change in Treatment from MeSH Heading to Publication Type During Year-End-Processing for Both MEDLINE and NLM Catalog
