David Rothman hatte uns ja schon liebenswürdigerweise zum Mitschreiben erklärt, wie man RSS-Feeds ‘pushy’ macht und man mit PubMed einen Feed für Zeitschrifteninhaltsverzeichnisse aufsetzen kann. Jetzt wird es ernst. Nach einer Einführungszeit hat PubMed gestern das Standardanzeigeformat für Abstracts geändert. Es wird nun der sogenannte AbstractPlus angezeigt:

PubMed bietet nun eine neue Standardanzeige für Abstracts an, in der die Titel von 5 Related Articles automatisch enthalten sind. Leider, leider sind nun die Volltext-Button für die Linkout-Bibliotheken nach unten gerutscht, so dass man scrollen muß, um sie zu sehen.

Thomson Scientific berichten über die tollen Neuerungen im ISI Web of Knowledge (WoK) und über eine 62%-Steigerung der Nutzung des WoK auf insgesamt 54 Mio. user sessions. Wieviel ist das im Vergleich zu Pubmed? Hatten die nicht 7 Mio. in der Woche, d.h. 350 Mio. im Jahr?

In Kürze wird bei PubMed die Suche im Originaltitel nicht-englischsprachiger Artikel möglich sein. Dies ist ein großer Fortschritt. Somit bietet die Suche im Originaltitel auch eine gute Hilfe für das Auffinden entsprechender englischer Begriffe und MeSH-Terms. Bei DIMDI und Ovid ging das ja schon immer. Diesen Wunsch hatte ich vor einigen Wochen an PubMed geschrieben. [...]

Diesen speziellen Grund, MeSH zu benutzen, kannte ich vorher auch noch nicht. Dean Gustini hilft Ärzten, ihre Angst vor Google zu verlieren:
Always use clinical terms (MeSH) in medical searching, first to improve the precision of your results, but also to avoid “adult” content. (Anatomical words like these will help you avoid adult sites)

A new status tag, [PubMed - author manuscript in PMC], will appear on PubMed citations for articles that would not normally be cited in PubMed because they are from journals that are a) not indexed for MEDLINE or b) do not participate in PMC. weiter
