   ist das zynismus der autoren oder nur noch lächerlich? das werde ich schon in 36 monaten erfahren.

   Andreas, warum so pessimistisch? Wenn mir einer 1999 gesagt hätte, was sich heute im Bereich Open Access abspielt, hätte ich in doch nur groß angeschaut. Und der Artikel schreibt richtig: The list of funding agencies supporting open access is growing. NIH and the Wellcome Trust have been joined by many of the world’s major funders in biomedical research. Mit den Zeitschriftenpreisen, wie du und ich sie erleiden dürfen, hat das natürlich nur wenig zu tun.

   BTW: Du machst mich neugierig: Was wirst du in 36 Monaten erfahren?

   lieber oliver, wie ich eurem zeitschriftenverzeichnis entnehmen kann, habt ihr “health information and libraries journal” online subskribiert. wir leider nicht. und daher müssen wir nun 3 Jahre (=36 monate embargozeit) warten, um den artikel oa lesen zu können (oder wir bestellen über subito, geht natürlich auch [noch]).
   ich glaube, das hat auch gar nichts mit pessimismus zu tun: so ein artikel hätte doch auch z.b. bei biomed central in ‘biomedical digital libraries’ als open access-publikation erscheinen können. (das christie-hospital in manchester gehört zum nhs in großbritannien, und das nhs ist als biomed central-mitglied gelistet.)
   die autoren hoffen, dass die zugangsbarrieren abgebaut werden, veröffentlichen aber selbst traditionell? tut mir leid, das kapier ich nicht.
